So many pictures. so many things to think about. What is real? instincts you can trust if you learn which are your own. So do you live in the past or look to the future? Do you live in the now or seek to change it? Who are you? Current Mood: contemplative | | Sunday, June 22nd, 2008 | 11:02 am [draerendi]

sometimes
Some of the time an indiscriminate touch will trigger a sensation. The sensation will activate a picture. The picture will elisit feelings. The feelings will reach back to a different time or place. Is it real? Can it be real? What would make it so? Would I go back if I could? I think not. Would I bring it back? I think no. The confusion comes with the lack of connection as if I have lost a part of me. Does it matter? It changes nothing really. So what is the point? I hate the lack of connectivity it brings. It could be imagination. It could be real. It feels real. When things fall into place I say, so that is how it is. When they do not then I wait for things to change. I accept that I am different and that I have always been. At one point I thought I was a part of some thing. I belonged some place. I wanted it very much. Now...that has slipped away. I have grown tired of meeting the expectations of others. I am consigned to being a solitary creature. I am not lonely, but I am alone. A phrase.
Summer Solstice brings surprises. While house-cleaning (a form of cleansing, something I do every Sabbat/festival) and listening to Omnia's "Bran", a phrase came to me: Sa'lat'ya, mithran-yan. It felt like a greeting, a hail to close friends. Then again, it would just be gobbly-gok. :P ;) Have a good Summer Solstice everyone. There was darkness all around. Stars everywhere. I walked through the darkness where nothing else existed. There was no visible ground beneath my feet. It felt solid though my eyes told me it was not. Endless night. I was safe and protected. I was part of the blackness. It would be so easy to become one with the emptiness. but I was not fooled. I held my form or lost it forever. Time held no sway here. Yet I was awed by all of it. Shadows moved among the darkness but I did not fear them. I held the power here. well
Why black is predominate among those things I associate with the elfin side of me escapes me. It seems that clothing wise there just is not a lot of color. Wood and forest colors but I fail to see a lot of green even so. Various blacks, grey, whites and browns seem to be the norm. Perhaps a dark enough green then not to look green at all. Everyone talks about fancy dress and high end living. I see tribes. Nothing fancy and no parties. I don't push I just accept what I see and move on. It could be real----or not I no longer care. It is what it is. Life was serious business not a party. Children were few and precious. In the trees you carried a knife and some kind of hook like thing. It had I think three or four curved prongs (it was not a weapon). Some carried a short slightly curved sword but most did not because it was better used on the ground. *smile* No make-up like I have heard. There were tribal markings and tattoos that looked alive. I look at the idea of henna and think that some were similar to that only way darker. Hum The Pict used woad in a like fashion. What I am getting at some were permanent while others were not. Still no idea of the difference in the use but I have to think it was significant. Current Mood: contemplative | | Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 | 2:13 pm [helen99]

Language update (trying to, at any rate)
I've pulled all the Lis'tarii words from our word list at http://www.rialian.com/elvslang.htm and put them all on one page at http://www.rialian.com/listari-language.htm. Two reasons: 1) I would really love to get more Lis'tarii words on the list if anyone remembers anything. I think a separate list will help focus on the particular flow that is Lis'tarii and make it easier for words to come through. 2) We're trying to think of a name for a particular batch of mead we just brewed, and I don't think there is a name in English... So anyway, if anyone's interested... | | Wednesday, January 17th, 2007 | 9:52 am [draerendi]

What do you say... The dragon in you? A kinship or two? I have been wondering about some things and then there is this picture of an elfin person with black armor embossed with a dragon. Is it a dragon in flight or a dragon with a sword? Is it fighting armor or that of flight? Is it a symbol of tribe or position? In truth I don't know. Perhaps it is that she is of the dragonkin? I am thinking these days that it is a symbol of tribe not unlike a lion or any other symbol that one would wear on a banner. It isn't that the dragon is black but the armor is. she wears her hair in a pony tail ( top knot?) or a braid high on her head similar to the ancient mongols or chinese. The way I look at things is that if you change the perspective of how you look at things then you see them differently. So I am unraveling bits of memory. I am holding on to nothing. I am not comparing what I see to what others have seen. They are my bits of sight I am going to share them here for now and if they ring for you then good if not...*shrugs* Well they are mine after all so they might not agree with your own. That is ok. I am not looking for it to be anything more than tidbits after all. The bits with horse back riding is that with no saddle. A bit-less bridle and the communication is with body movement and pressure. Normal look to the horse. There is marking around her eyes...Tattooing? looks cool though. I think they are also a tribal thing. Some times I get confused though because some of the time She is a he. The difference in the color of hair but otherwise the same face. The facial marking is not on him or is it not as pronounced? Perhaps hers is for a reason and not permanent at all? It has been a while since I have touched these memories because there was so much turmoil involved. I am going to explore them as I see them and not as I experienced them. It is the past after all. It should remain there I think. She is small busted and I think in the armor you would not be able to tell male from female. That might be a good thing in combat. The armor could be a leather though I would not swear to it. It covers the chest and the forearms. Soft leather-like pants and top underneath. The boots remind me of the renaissance boots that you see. Everything seemed made to unimpede movement. Interesting I think. regarding a questionaire I recieved
An on-line aquaintence, Raven Kaldera (I believe Illuviel knows him as well) sent me this questionaire regarding a book he's in the process of writing. It's not about otherkin, per say, but it does touch one some of the topics we Elf types deal with. If any of you who are Sidhe, Tuatha or Ljosalfs (especially) have anything to add or recommend, pleas feel free to comment, it would be greatly appriciated. Below is what I have so far. This will be crossposted to Listarii, Glamourbombing, Lokeans ( Read more... ) | | Thursday, February 10th, 2005 | 9:53 am [subtle_shadow]

Chaos and Corruption
Recently Saber and I were discussing such things on a google list. Due to my extreme discomfort with some of the members we discussed bringing our banter here. I know that I posted some old memories a while back about the things I remember but I would like to know if any of you care if we start discussion on the like within the privacy of this group once again? I am going to make this a public post but request that if you are not on my friends list to let me know if you are interested in what I will be talking about so that I can add you to my list. I post most everything "friend only" so I think you would need to be on my friends list if I marked the posting such. Thanks, Tala | | Wednesday, August 25th, 2004 | 4:51 am [draerendi]

I am currently reading a new book by Nora Roberts. called A little Fate. It has 3 of her short stories. The first called the Witching Hour. As I read I find that I wander a bit then as I read two stories unfold though they are not connected. The one I read and the one I heard. I heard it here. Saber it has brought you to mind. Though she does not tell your story it is a song I've heard you sing. I would be curious of your opinion on this matter. | | Sunday, May 2nd, 2004 | 9:16 am [draerendi]

Ever have one of those moments when a bad feeling slowly crept up from the pit of your stomach? I had convinced myself that indeed the shadow things were an invention of Tulari stupidity. Then I read a couple of books and see trouble ahead. *head shaking * It is not fair. You would think that such thoughts would be less likely coming from fiction. *sigh* The name of the two books are Night Fires and Dark Enchantment by Karen Harbaugh. The first is vampiric in a way. Made the hairs itch on the back of my neck the second book Dark Enchantment is giving me chills. It is not vampiric but the characters are related as in the same family. Now so you understand I will quote the section that is bothering me...I suspect that it will continue as I get further along in the book,,,,, It came out from the darkest part of the shadowed mist, suddenly, like a bat from a disturbed crypt, but of a man's height and misshapen. Catherine watched the monster as it weaved toward her, its movements quick and lithe.
The creature struck, its claws glinting in the faint moonlight as it came down to seize her. She side steeped the blow angry that her skirts hampered her movements, and her hand came up slicing with her dagger. The creature howled--she had cut it. Green oozed from the wound and the smell that emitted from the monster was worse than the most rotten offal. Another swipe and she moved again to avoid it, whirling under it's arm as she extended her arm to cut again at the creature. It hit something harder--bone she thought-and the monster howled again. The next attack did not come as quickly; either she had wounded the monster enough to slow it or it was reconsidering its attack. She hoped it was the first: reconsideration meant that it had more intelligence to attack than she wished. A glance at what she thought might be its eyes showed nothing but twin pinpricks of red in the midst of blackness, reminding her of-- the thing lunged and she jumped back but it swiped not with its arm but with its leg, sweeping her feet from under her.
She rolled ,slicing at the monster as it reached to grab her, but it knocked the dagger from her hand, slick with blood. metal skittered on cobblestone and she saw her sword inches from her hand. She grasped it and swung her arm upward. The creature gave a cut-off howl and fell, and its severed head thumped and rolled within inches of hers. Red light flashed in the darkness searing her eyes for a moment. Catherine gasped and moved hastily away climbing at last to her feet. The monster's form before her seemed to melt, its flesh flowing outward to puddle on the street.
I can not explain why this gave me shivers....It seemed awfully familiar. I am not scared but I have a feeling of dread.

What makes one a Listarii?
1) What makes one a Listarii? Depth of feel/energy flow and memories. 2) What are some of the differences between Listarii and other elves...particularly Elenari? (since they insit that Listari are Elenari) Don’t play well with others? ::grin:: The thing that really sticks out is the connection amongst family members… Deeper than telepathy – something more… Not sure how to explain. A knowing. 3) What do Listari Look like? Those I remember had no specific similarities but then again I recognize the feel of someone rather than the physical traits. I know I was blonde… My sister was redheaded and my older brother and younger sister had the dark gypsy look of my mother. It could just be that we were odd… I will say however that I looked more like my father’s people than my mother’s. 4} Were Listari city or country elves? Both and Neither… 5)Does anyone remember other types of elves....without copy of the elenari descriptions out there? My mothers tribe/clan were dark, Romany looking elves that were some sort of cave dwellers or at least that is where the worshipped…. Their skin was brown – almost hennaed looking like a stain of mud on fair skin or something… Their hair was dark as were their eyes… I am not sure what color their eyes were but they looked dark. It is all very cloudy but I think there were at least 4factions other factions my fathers tribe (Listarii) – our tribe seemed to be part of a larger one but not if that makes sense (like I said this is all cloudy). And then there was a more distant removed group… Not tribal more city dwellers… they were really snotty… If I had to guess I would say these must be the Tulari. Then there was another group – a rebel group that helped us… I have no clue who they were exactly … It really confuses me when I try and remember. 6) Does anyone remember the start of animosity between the elenari and Listarii? ( other than the crap that has happened in this life time]. I am not sure – there was a war between tribes… We sought help from the elves I think must be the Tulari but they would not get involved… Not their battle they said and they sat back smugly and watched playing political chess with all who would let them and reaping the spoils of both sides. 7] How many listari are known as of now? {you know for sure that are Listari] Personally Ruadh (Unseelie Rissnah), Ckir, John (I think he was since he was at the school with me in that lifetime and he is the one who helped trigger my awakening), Rialian, Saber, FireFen | 10:08 pm [rialian]

Excellent stuff...
===I will be posting...just have to get to a point when i do not have a heat headache (I am not designed for 90 degree days....) ===If you think someone would be good here, let me know, I have no problems having more join. ===Quick note on the animosity thing...most of mine is based on stuff that happened here. My memories do include some fascinatingly bad ideas the Tulari had..(and I consider the Elenari mythos to be basically a Tulari edition of things...)...however they are not the basis for a dislike. If someone proves that the memory information is still quite accurate, I tend to be rather cautious, though...(chuckle) ===Off to cool off a bit....(literally....) | | Saturday, April 17th, 2004 | 8:44 am [draerendi]

Hummm...I think we need some discussion on a few things. 1) What makes one a Listarii? 2) What are some of the differences between Listarii and other elves...particularly Elenari? (since they insit that Listari are Elenari) 3) What do Listari Look like? 4} Were Listari city or country elves? 5)Does anyone remeber other types of elves....without copy of the elenari descriptions out there? 6) Does anyone remeber the start of animosity between the elenari and Listari? ( other than the crap that has happened in this life time] 7] How many listari are known as of now? {you know for sure that are Listari] Hummm that should be enough for now to mull over. This is based on the information I gleaned so far and found really little or nothing on this topic. I will come up with more later. |
